Ouissal – Online connection without borders

We had the privilege of contributing to a project that goes far beyond the screen: Ouissal’s mission has been connecting women leaders from Germany and the Arab world for years. It was a true honor to support the growth of this international community through the creation of a new website and a custom-built app both designed to foster intercultural dialogue, professional development, and long-term relationship building.
THE GOAL
The Ouissal mentorship program was established over ten years ago by the non-profit organization EMA e.V., and has since been supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) as well as GIZ. Each year, the program selects approximately 100 women from Germany and Arab countries (such as Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan) to work together in mentor-mentee pairs focused on career development goals. Our aim was to create a dignified, modern digital platform for Ouissal; including a new website and a community communication platform that facilitates collaboration and communication among participants.

Creating a global platform:
The target audience is culturally and technically diverse, so the platform needed to be easy to use, intuitive, and user friendly.
Developing a user-friendly application:
The challenge with the app was to create a simple and secure community communication system with features that encourage active engagement while avoiding overload.
A platform solution adapted to an international context:
The website needed to align well with the program’s social mission and its international network of supporters, so both the design and the copywriting received special attention.
Precise multilingual translation:
The website’s English, German, and French versions needed to be accurately translated to ensure the conveyed message is clear and authentic for every user.

SOLUTIONS
Development of a modern website and community app
We created a community space that is informative, inspiring, and easy to update, with a focus on the mentorship program’s goals and events. The app offers various features for mentor-mentee pairs, including group chat, reactions, forums, and themed sections.

We also prepared a detailed user guide for the application to help everyone get started easily with the new system.

During development, we ensured the interface was mobile-friendly and that the system would be scalable and sustainable in the long term.
RESULTS

The introduction of the digital presence resulted in significant growth in engagement with the organization, reflecting increased user interest and activity. Additionally, the number of received feedback messages rose, indicating that participants are actively using and appreciating the new system. An important consideration was to ensure the new platform was easy to use and intuitive; as a result, participants smoothly enjoy the application, further strengthening the program’s community and effectiveness.
